In times of trial, a promising glimpse of the days to come, a longing gaze,
a yen for halcyon days, a smooth runaway through life’s maze,
an expectation of an unrealized ‘morrow, spurred by a blissful yore;
New Hope is all this and more, when paths in life have all turned sore.
Life they say is a grief-stricken alley, sprinkled with bliss so sparse
But so only until hope flutters wings and beckons spring back into life’s’ grim ramparts.
Sparrows twitter perching on trees, after a storm that washed off all human cheer;
tiny blades of grass spring up by barbed barriers, where humanity stands trounced, trodden under fear;
shimmering rays will tear down dreary skies, and usher an idyllic morn,
down here on earth I do wait for a pleasant azure yonder to be born.
A world where souls wouldn’t sleep in hunger, where war and disease wouldn’t push lives into stony slumber,
where tender love would thrive in bosoms and nature’s fury transforms into bountiful blossoms.
Amidst the roughest seas and in scorching lands, in all extremity it goes hand in hand,
countless defeats fail to cow it down; ‘cause once trounced it rises anew, as a Phoenix from its ashes on the ground.
I cling to this seraphic anchor, and for happiness will I continue to hanker, new ways will my heart forever grope,
perched on my heart, till my end will sing this little bird of New Hope...
